Vermilion Parish Drug offenders arrested

According to Sheriff Mike Couvillon, the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit made the following arrests for narcotics related offenses within the parish.

After opening an investigation into possible illicit drug activity on Meaux’s Lane in Abbeville, agents traveled to 1907 Meaux’s Lane and made contact with Jeremy Briggs (dob 7-10-89). After a brief investigation, agents recovered suspected marijuana, and items of drug paraphernalia which is used to support the distribution of the illicit drug. Briggs was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to distribute Marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

After receiving complaints, agents were also looking into suspected drug activity within the city of Erath. While working surveillance, and criminal patrol, agents conducted a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the driver of the vehicle, and conducting a brief investigation, agents located suspected methamphetamine within the vehicle along with paraphernalia used to sell the narcotic. Agents arrested and charged Joseph Rials Jr (dob 11-12-72) of Youngsville, with possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sheriff Couvillon would like to applaud the concerned citizens of Vermilion Parish for their awareness and assistance in helping the Sheriff’s Office in fighting the war on illegal drugs.
