Lafayette, LA – The Lafayette Parish School Board will hold a public hearing to review the 2014-2015 proposed budget. The hearing will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. in the Lafayette Parish School Board’s Central Office Board Room. Following the hearing, the
Board will hold a Special Board Meeting at 4:30 p.m. to adopt the 2014-2015 budget. The budget will be available for public inspection during normal business hours, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, beginning Thursday, August 28, 2014 in the reception area of the main
building in the central office, 113 Chaplin Drive, Lafayette, LA 70508. The office is closed on Monday, September 1, 2014 due to the Labor Day holiday. It may also be viewed on the school system’s website at www.lpssonline.com/2014-2015proposedbudget.
Superintendent Dr. Pat Cooper said, “I will adhere to the law that says we will advertise a balanced budget and have a public hearing and an adopted budget by September 15. At that public hearing the public may comment and the Board can make suggested changes in response to such comment. As long as these changes don’t violate policy, state and federal law, and do not discriminate against any segment of our population, including the poor and minority and disabled, then those changes could be incorporated into the final budget for adoption. “It has been said over and over again. Change is difficult. But there is no price too large to pay in order to ensure our children have the opportunity to learn and prosper. I want Lafayette Parish to have the very best school system in the country…and it is possible. I ask the community to step forward and join me.”
