Lafayette man arrested for child pornography

On Wednesday, September 18 police arrested a 38 year old Lafayette man on 20 counts of child pornography.

Law enforcement arrested Daniel E. Reed, of 225 Larchwood Dr. of the charges after a joint effort investigation involving the Attorney General’s Cyber Crime Unit, Lafayette Police Department, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police, and Homeland Security Investigations.

Reed was booked into the Lafayette Parish Jail without incident. Reed is charged with violating a state law forbidding a person to produce, distribute, possess, or possess with the intent to distribute pornography involving juveniles. If convicted as charged, he faces up to 20 years in prison on each count of child pornography.

Attorney General Caldwell said, “We are using the latest, most advanced resources available to find and apprehend these cyber criminals. And we will continue to expand our efforts and stay current with the ever changing technology used by these predators.”
