Juvenile arrested in Acadia Parish home burglary

The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early morning home invasion that occurred in the 300 block of the I-10 West Service Road near Rayne. 


According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon at approximately 8:00 a.m. the Rayne Police Department was contacted and responded to a report of a burglary on the I-10 west Service Road near Rayne. Upon arrival officers learned that the suspect had fled the residence after a brief struggle with the homeowner. 


The 15 year old juvenile suspect was located in the 9200 block of Robert’s Cove Road at a residence that he entered in an attempt to elude law enforcement. He was apprehended without incident. Melancon stated that officers with the Rayne Police Department turned the suspect over to deputies with the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Melancon thanked Chief Carroll Stelly and the Rayne Police Department for their assistance. At this time charges against the juvenile are pending.
