A plan to build a French immersion campus in Arnaudville has been in the works for years.
Now it appears that developments for the campus are underway for campus at the former St. Luke hospital in Arnaudville.
St. Landry parish President Bill Fontenot and St. Martin Parish President Guy Cormier have agreed to match a thirty-five thousand dollar grant for the development of the French Immersion Campus.
The grant comes from the national endowment for the arts. The parish presidents along with the Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation are working together to develop a business plan for the campus.
Fontenot says this development will be beneficial for both parishes.
Fontenot says the campus will allow visitors to truly immerse themselves in French culture featuring cooking classes in French and creole cuisine to French language and history.
Fontenot says he hopes the campus will be open to the public by mid-2015.
