Lafayette, LA – Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department have issued an arrest warrant for First Degree Murder for the arrest of Coderrick Fox (25) of Lafayette. Detectives have also released the identity of the victim as Jimmy Reed (57) of Lafayette.
Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Fox is encouraged to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
Dead body found in car
A man was found dead early Wednesday inside of a car in the 1100 block of Celeste Street in Lafayette.
Lafayette Police Officers made the discovery around noon after receiving a call concerning a suspicious vehicle.
“He’s deceased as a result of what we believe to be a gunshot wound,” said Corporal Paul Mouton, Lafayette Police.
A resident in the area, Allen Williams, said the neighborhood was quiet until now. Williams said, was so shocked. I was coming back from therapy and saw all the yellow tape and stuff.”
Williams said he’s live in the area for four years, and he’s never seen the vehicle in the area before Wednesday.
Investigators are currently attempting to retrace the victim’s last whereabouts.
“We do have some leads that we’re following up and information pertaining to people that are related or know of the deceased individual,” said Mouton.
Police are expected to release the victim’s identity Thursday. The homicide is an ongoing investigation.
