Judge Lori Landry was honored on Sunday at the Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church after winning re- election for District Judge in the 16th Judicial District Court.
Judge Landry says she never wanted to be a judge but was an assistant DA who loved the job. The opportunity presented itself when a close friend, Judge Carl Williams, passed away while serving on the bench. Landry was first elected in 2002 and says every day is different for her when she steps into the courtroom. She says the most rewarding aspect of the job is the ability to help juveniles.
Judge Landry says more than anything she loves helping those in need and she hopes to one day become a part of a more reflective court. Until then says she is just happy to see another day in the District Court Seat.
