Time is ticking and shoppers are arriving in droves at Rouses in Lafayette to get their hands on some of those last minute items for Christmas dinner.
Betty Magruder says she’s having Christmas dinner at her daughter’s house this year, and was put in charge of dessert. She said she came to rouses on Christmas Eve for two reasons: One, to get a fresh dobage cake and two, she came for the convenience.
Management at Rouses says they have “all hands on deck” for Christmas Eve to make it as easy as possible for shoppers. They also say that gumbo ingredients are their best sellers around this time of year. They say the rain kept a lot of their customers away yesterday so they expect today’s crowd to be busier than last year’s on Christmas Eve.
Rouses Bertrand will open until 7 pm on Christmas Eve and will be closed Christmas Day.
