Eunice Fire Chief Michael Arnold will go to trial in February of next year, on a charged that he inappropriately touched a female employee.
Arnold’s attorney and the district attorney met in Judge Lynette Feucht’s chambers during a pre-trial hearing Monday night. A resolution could not be reached in the matter and Arnold’s trial date was set for February 23rd at 10AM.
The fire chief was arrested on November 4th for one count of simple battery. Arnold allegedly slapped a female volunteer firefighter on the buttocks during a presentation at a Eunice school. Arnold surrendered to police and later plead not guilty at his arraignment.
Mayor Rusty Moody later placed Arnold on paid administrative leave. The City Council has yet to publically met to discuss any recommendations or repercussions regarding Arnold’s case or his status as fire chief. Discussions have been postponed to 2015.
Arnold and his attorney were not immediately available for comment.
