A high-ranking house republican from Louisiana is being questioned on Monday night about a speech he gave to a white supremacist group.
Representative Steve Scalise isn’t denying the report that says he spoke at the international euro workshop on civil rights in 2002. The workshop was hosted by David Duke, who once served as a grand wizard with the Ku Klux Klan.
A spokeswoman for Scalise says the then-state representative appeared at numerous events to promote his platforms, and didn’t know the KKK was involved.
This new report comes just days before the GOP takes over congress.
Scalise, who represents the first Congressional District of Louisiana, will be the house majority whip. He is expected to play a major role in spear-heading conservative legislative priorities.
