Lafayette along with eight other cities around the world made a New York City based travel magazines “Diamonds in the Rough: 8 Dark Horse destinations list.
Conde Nast traveler magazine said “Lafayette is a cornucopia of cultural curiosities found nowhere else on the planet. And the city’s Mardi Gras celebration is a more authentic alternative to that in New Orleans’ French Quarter.
Hotel Acadiana was mentioned as a place to stay that’s close to the river, nightlife and dining for a reasonable price. Blue dog café was also praised as a local favorite. They referred to Lafayette as the beating heart of French-speaking Louisiana. Benjamin Berthelot, President and CEO of the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission said the recognition is great for Lafayette Parish and Acadiana, which strives to keep cultural tradition.
