The Lafayette Parish School’s Blue Ribbon committee meets on Tuesday night. They’ll discuss which job titles are eligible to receive a bonus, known as the 14th check.
October’s payment raised a few eyebrows because data analysts and instructional strategists received the payout. The check uses excess funds from the 2002 sales tax. Voters approved it to keep teacher salaries competitive. Associated Professional Educators of Louisiana President Juanita Hall says the goal is to follow the language of the tax.
News Ten is being told the board approved categories included classroom teachers, librarians, assessment teachers, speech therapists, counselors, audiologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, psychologists and ROTC instructors.
