On Wednesday, Lafayette Consolidated President Joey Durel held his 12th and final State of the Parish Address. The event was held at the Cajundome Convention Center. “We worked to move Lafayette. We pushed you to move Lafayette and you pushed us. I was true to my words about keeping our children and grandchildren in Acadiana,” said Durel.
Durel explained as mayor it’s been his job to take risks. “Everything I did, I did because I love my family and want them to inherit an even better Lafayette,” noted Durel.
Durel announced that New Iberia and Iberia Parish have joined as partners in Project Front Yard. PFY is a community beautification project implemented by LCG in September. Durel mentioned a special meeting to be held in Lafayette next month. “In March, mayors from cities around the world including the mayor of Paris will meet in Lafayette for the International Association of Francophone Mayors meeting. This will be the first time this organization will hold such a meeting in the United States,” added Durel.
“I did what I did and I did everything that I did because I also love you; the people of Lafayette Parish and Acadiana,” said Durel.
