A high speed chase caused traffic backups on I-10 Wednesday afternoon near the Atchafalaya Basin.

The chase began in Port Allen and ended near the Henderson exit. Around 1 PM, the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call about a woman who jumped out of a moving van near a Port Allen motel. When a deputy arrived to check on her, she ran into a motel room. The deputy then approached the van, but the driver sped away.

State police used a spike bed to stop the driver, identified as Courtney Lacey (37) of Baton Rouge.  He was charged with false imprisonment and rape. Deputies say Lacey has been arrested 25 times on charges including disturbing the peace, stalking, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and cruelty to a juvenile.
