The Attorney who represented disgruntled Lafayette Police Department officers in an unsuccessful suit against the department has been arrested on theft charges.
(St. Martinville, LA.) A Baton Rouge attorney was arrested today following an investigation by the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division following a report of possible financial abuse against an elderly St. Martin Parish man. A subsequent investigation was also completed by Elderly Protective Services. He was arrested this afternoon by the U.S. Marshals Task Force at his Baton Rouge law firm on Airport Avenue. He is currently being held in the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail without bond and is awaiting extradition to St. Martin Parish where he will be booked on the following charges: La. RS-14:67 Theft over $500.00
You may recall spring was the attorney for a group Lafayette Police officers in a lawsuit that claimed corruption, cover ups and power abuse by high-ranking officers and city officials. The case was thrown out by US district judge Richard Haik back in August of 2014 after the federal judge determined the lawsuit was without merit and dismissed it.
