According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, three individuals have been arrested as a result of a joint investigation with U.S. Marshals Service and the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Couvillon says information was received from the United States Marshals Violent Offenders Task Force of a known violent fugitive hiding out in Vermilion Parish. Investigators began conducting surveillance and gathering information of the area and on 02-06-2015 applied for and obtained a search warrant for a camper trailer located behind a residence at 12825 Weston Road, Abbeville, LA.
Utilizing the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Special Response Team which was requested by the U.S. Marshals Task Force, as well as the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division and Kaplan Police K9 Division, the search warrant was executed which resulted in the arrest of Two male subjects who fled the area on foot, but were later apprehended in a wooded area behind the camper trailer and a third subject, a female, who was apprehended immediately.
Arrested was Christopher Don Byerley (W/M, D.O.B. 1-12-1980) of 1041 Dudley Menard Road in Broussard, LA for a warrant for Parole Violation along with numerous drug charges, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Unlawful Use of Body Armor for the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office; Michael Louis Girouard (W/M, D.O.B. 4-5-1977) of 1328 Garber Road in Broussard, LA for a Probation Violation and Claire Telezia Landry (W/F, D.O.B. 1-1-1981) of 212 Country View Drive in Youngsville, LA for a Failure to Appear on a Felony Narcotics charge, also for the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.
All three subjects were booked into the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Correctional Center and transferred to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Correctional Center.
