The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns softball team continues to climb in the national polls, advancing to No. 6 in both the USA Today/NFCA and ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 polls. The team was previously ranked No. 7 and No. 8, respectively.
The move comes after the 9-0 Cajuns concluded a five-game sweep of the Mardi Gras Classic tournament over the weekend, allowing only one run in decisive wins over Idaho State and Mississippi Valley State.
On Monday, senior pitcher Jordan Wallace was rewarded for pitching 16 nearly perfect innings during the tournament, as she was named the Sun Belt Conference’s Softball Pitcher of the Week.
The Cajuns have been ranked in the Top 10 since the preseason rankings, debuting at No. 9 in both polls.
No. 7 Louisiana (9-0) is back in action Friday through Sunday hosting the Ragin’ Cajuns Invitational at Lamson Park featuring games with Hofstra, Iowa, Missouri State and McNeese State.
