Former Ville Platte PD detective arrested

A former lead detective with the Ville Platte Police Department is behind bars, and being held on a $100,000 bond.

Nathaniel Savoy was arrested around 8:30 on Tuesday night by state police and booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail. Savoy is charged with two counts of simple burglary, one count of malfeasance in office, one count of malfeasance in office involving evidence tampering, second degree injury of public record, maintaining false public records, tampering with surveillance systems, and simple criminal damage to property.

Savoy is accused of stealing roofing materials from Doug Ashy Building Materials. State police confirm he resigned from the Ville Platte Police Department.
