Deputies warn public of someone posing over the phone as a St. Martin parish sheriff’s deputy

On Wednesday, the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office received a report of a male subject with a foreign accent posing as a St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Deputy who called a resident of St. Martin Parish seeking personal information regarding a member of their household. When the caller declined giving the male caller the information, he became irate. We want the public to be aware that this was not a St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputy. Be extremely cautious of anyone who is asking for money or personal information such as your credit card number, social security information, date of birth, etc. Never give this information to out to anyone.

Please do not fall victim to this latest attempt to scam the general public.

If you want to report or should you encounter any suspicious activity, please contact the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office at (337) 394-3071.
