Project Front Yard in conjunction with LCG’s Environmental Quality Division is organizing the annual Trash Bash to be held on May 2nd as part of Keep Louisiana Beautiful’s “Great American Clean Up Day.” Citizens of all ages are invited to join Project Front Yard’s initiative to change the scape of Lafayette’s proverbial “front yard” “with litter-free streets, roadways and waterways to match our welcoming “backyard,” our festivals, food and music.
During Trash Bash 2015, community members are asked to form groups and select a site within Lafayette Parish they intend to liberate from litter. There is no cost to participate but all interested groups must register online or by phone at 337-291-5637. The deadline to register a team is April 30th.
All registered volunteers will receive a free “Trash Bash 2015” t-shirt and food and drinks will be provided at the end of the cleanup. Litter collection and safety supplies, including gloves, bags, litter grabbers and safety vests, will be made available for pick up for registered teams. Groups needing help identifying a project site can contact the Recycling Office at (337) 291-5637.
This community cleanup effort is scheduled for Saturday May 2nd from 7:00 a.m. until noon. Headquarters for the day will be Bayou Vermilion District, located at 350 Fisher Road (near Beaver Park Pavilion). Participants are asked to return to Headquarters by 11:30 a.m. for food and drinks.
To coordinate the pick-up of supplies, volunteers should schedule with the Recycling Office at 291-5637, from April 20th thru May 1st between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Supplies will also be available for pick up on the day of the event, May 2nd,at 6:30 a.m. at Headquarters.
