Concerned parents and members of the community met with Interim Superintendent Burnell LeJeune and board member Tehmi Chaisson on Wednesday night.
This meeting was following the news that Northside High School in Lafayette is currently operating without a principal and an athletic director after a sudden resignation.
According to officials at Northside, Trent Ellis the athletic director turned in his resignation this past Monday. Ellis’s resignation came soon after the school announced it would be doing a partial audit. At the meeting, the group heard from Lemoine and Chaisson. They want to ensure there is stability in the leadership position at Northside in the future.
Kenneth Boudreaux, a concerned parent, says “If nothing else, we need someone to commit long term.. Stay there.. Someone who can bring dynamics that fit the skill set of those kids there.. Someone that the teachers could rally behind and really be motivated to work for and someone who can reach out and get these families and communities behind them.”
The school system will be interviewing principal candidates next Tuesday.
