In preparation for hurricane season the Louisiana National Guard participated in a statewide disaster response exercise along with several other local, state and federal agencies.
The Acadiana Regional Airport was the stage to Saturday’s response exercise. Soldiers performed boat, land, and air search and rescue operations. Volunteers and even pets were transported to and from the lily pad, where civilians are processed.
The goal of the state-wide exercise is to train several agencies to work together during an emergency. Every role, from animal control to emergency responders and law enforcement is essential.
