Family, friends and fans said their final goodbyes Tuesday to Soul singer Percy Sledge, a man whose voice was music to our ears. Visitation was held at Bethany Church in Baker from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m with a funeral service that followed. The Alabama native spent most of his career and life in Baton Rouge. His famous ballad “When a Man Loves a Woman” made him an icon. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. Sledge was 74.
