A Lake Charles woman is accused of burning, beating, and abusing an eight-year-old girl.
Calcasieu Parish sheriff’s deputies responded to a home on Elms Street on Thursday. They had received a call from a local hospital about a girl having severe burns on her hands and marks all over her body. The girl told detectives Clofer handcuffed her and tied her to the legs of a bed when Clofer slept and went to work.
She said she wasn’t allowed to eat for days, and said she at a snack without permission, Clofer would hold her hands over a gas stove’s open flame. She also said Kerrian Clofer (26) beat her with a belt and metal clothes hanger. The child is in the pediatric intensive care unit at a Baton Rouge hospital. A judge says the child will be placed in state custody when she’s released.
Clofer has been charged with Second Degree Cruelty to a juvenile and false imprisonment. Bond has been set at 700,000 dollars.
