The Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit arrested two for allegedly intending to distribute crystal meth.
According to a press release from the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office, agents received information about an illegal methamphetamine transaction Monday. Upon setting up surveillance, agents saw the alleged suspect, Jeremy Melancon, 39, who was also wanted for outstanding warrants, at the predetermined location. When approached, Melancon fled the area with a passenger in his vehicle.
After several blocks, the vehicle slowed and someone apparently threw something out of the window, the press release says.
Agents were able to stop the vehicle, and arrested Melancon and a passenger, Chet Miller, 32. Agents also located several grams of crystal methamphetamine on the ground where the vehicle had slowed.
Melancon was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine and failure to appear for violation of a protective order. Miller was charged with possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine, and a hold for Texas was placed on him.
