KLFY News Ten signed on the air June 3, 1955. Owned by Camellia Broadcasting at the time, it was intended to share time on channel 10 with KVOL-TV, owned at the time by the Morgan Murphy Stations along with KVOL, KVOL-FM (96.1, off-air and moved to Lake Charles by 1976), and the Daily Advertiser. Its original studio facilities were located on Jefferson Street in downtown Lafayette. It has always been a CBS affiliate, though it aired some ABC programming until 1962. During the late 1950s, the station was also briefly affiliated with the NTA Film Netowrk. The station currently operates out of newer, larger purpose-built studio facilities on Eraste Landry Road, on the city’s south side.
In January 2012, KLFY became the first news affiliate in the region to broadcast its newscasts in full 1080i HD. KLFY-TV broadcasts to and gathers news the South Central Louisiana area, a region known as “Acadiana.” This includes the Parishes (Counties) of Lafayette, Saint Martin, Saint Landry, Evangeline, Acadia, Vermilion, Iberia, Saint Mary, and Jefferson Davis. Many of the station’s branding campaigns and slogans use the moniker “Acadiana.” Media in 2008.

Until 2005, KLFY used the news theme Hello News by Gari Communications and an accompanying slogan “Hello Acadiana”. The station has once again picked up the campaign with viewer submissions with great success.
KLFY is well known in the market for its local morning show, Passe Partout, and its noon show, Meet Your Neighbor. Both reflect the station’s commitment to local coverage; Passe Partout comes from the French word for “all-purpose.” Both have been on the air for over 50 years, and are among the longest-running programs of their kind in the country. The two programs are typically accompanied by paid live remotes promoting local car dealers, furniture stores and other commercial businesses. KLFY’s weather department utilizes the “Live Doppler 10 Stormtracker” title for live up to date weather forecasts and branding. Weather coverage is featured prominently throughout station branding promotions. The station also has the weather department record meteorological updates for broadcast on a local radio group under the branding “TV-10 (station ID) Weather Center”. In return the radio group’s presenters promote the station’s newscasts and website. All told, KLFY airs 31.5 hours of news per week, a considerable amount for a station in the 123rd market.
KLFY’s website http://www.klfy.com has a variety of news and lifestyle topics. On December 28, 2011, KLFY became the first television station in the Lafayette market to begin broadcasting its local newscasts in high definition. The station also debuted a brand new logo, graphics package and set.
In May 2013, The “Eyewitness News” name was dropped for “Acadiana’s Multi-Media News”. Along with that, a new intro, new lower thirds and a new reporter sign off phrase. The Young graphics are still used but mainly for their weather forecasts. Also, 615 Music’s “Bulletin” was dropped for a production music track.
