Four fisherman rescued after vessel sinks in Gulf of Mexico, near Venice La.

According to the Coast Guard, the rescue mission happened Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m. about 30 miles east of Venice.

While few details have been released, the Coast Guard said the vessel sank for unknown reasons and the fishermen swam to a nearby oil rig, where they waited until crews arrived.

It’s unclear how many fishermen were on the vessel during the incident.

Officials said the fishermen are being transported to the Belle Chase Air Force Base. Additional details surrounding the rescue are expected Tuesday.
