Louisiana state lawmakers passed a bill this session that will let law enforcement scan license plates.
Some residents worry it could be an invasion of privacy, but law enforcement says not to worry. The computer system would be mounted on the hood of police cars. It automatically scans license plates and checks for stolen vehicles or those linked with an amber alert.
Agencies do not have the right to store and use personal information.
The scanner will give officers a way to look for specific vehicles and act as a second set of eyes.
