The New Orleans Pelicans have sold the rights to Michigan State’s Branden Dawson after taking the forward with the 56th overall pick in the NBA Draft.
The details won’t be released until the deal is finalized, so it’s not clear how much cash is exchanging hands. Team officials would not confirm what team the Pelicans sold the rights to, though reports have said the team is the Los Angeles Clippers.
Dawson averaged 11.9 points a game and 9.1 rebounds a game for the Spartans on 53.5 percent shooting in his senior season. He led the Big Ten in rebounding.
Dawson impressed scouts with his defensive abilities against elite prospects.
Michigan State went to the NCAA Tournament each of Dawson’s four seasons with the program, including a Final Four appearance this year. (WWLTV.com)
