Lafayette Consolidated Government Officials are asking that motorist avoid the area near The Grand Theatre the remainder of the evening Thursday, and again Friday morning as officials continue to work throughout the night on their investigation into the shooting where three people were killed, including the gunman, at the Grand Theatre.

Keith Patin said, “It’s terrible. Our law enforcement is working to prevent things like this on a daily basis. It’s just terrible.”

Patin said he has not had a chance to speak to any of the victims. Patin represents Lafayette Consolidated District 8, which is the District which includes The Grand.

Patin told KLFY, “We will hold our heads high. We normally don’t see this sort of thing happen in Lafayette.” Patin said he did not go to the theater to see things first hand because he didn’t see any benefit to being there as police continue their investigation. He described the situation as “hard to fathom” and shocking.
