Red Arrow Workshop re-opened its doors on Thursday morning at 10 am. Since then friends of Jillian Johnson and members of the community have all come out to show their support.
Jenny Cohen, considers herself one of Red Arrow’s regular customers. She says she believes Jillian would be proud to see the community’s perseverance after the tragedy.
“This is one of the most unique gems in Lafayette,” says Cohen, speaking of Red Arrow. “She would be honored too see everyone coming together form different walks of life, just coming together as one community, to come together and hold each other up.”
Kelly Russo, a friend of Jillian’s says she thinks it was very important to re-open the store exactly a week after the movie theatre shooting that claimed Jillian’s life. “I think it was necessary for both the people who were really close to Jillian and also the overall community who didn’t even know her to show resilience”
Russo says many of the items sold in the store were designed or created by Jillian, which she says should be celebrated. “She had a very distinct taste. It was elegant, it was fun and it was culturally resounding.”
Russo says she considers it an honor to have known Jillian, an artist, wife, mother and true friend. “Just come to Red Arrow to just take a look, to pay some respect, and if you didn’t know Jillian you will understand her if you just come here.”
The store will be open for its regular business hours Monday through Saturday 10 AM until 6 PM and Sunday 11 AM until 3 PM.
