Kraft Recalls 36,000 Cases of Cheese Singles Over Choking Hazard

Kraft Heinz issued a recall this weekend for some of their individually wrapped cheese slices called Singles citing a danger of choking.

“A thin strip of the individual packaging film may remain adhered to the slice after the wrapper has been removed. If the film sticks to the slice and is not removed, it could potentially cause a choking hazard,” Kraft Heinz said in a statement.

Ten customers complained about the packaging prior to the recall and three of those reported choking, the statement said.

The company’s recall only applies to 3-lb. and 4-lb. sizes of American and White American Kraft Singles with a “best used by” date of Dec. 29, 2015 through Jan. 4, 2016.

The dates must be followed by the code S54 or S55 to be included in the recall. The recalled Singles were shipped to the U.S., Puerto Rico and Grand Cayman, according to the statement.

Kraft Heinz issued the above photos to help customers identify the recalled items.
