UPDATE: The suspect is now in custody after barricading himself inside a gas station.
The standoff began after the suspect reportedly stabbed inside a home inside a home on Anna Street in Sunset, then shot a police officer who was called to the scene.
He then fled the scene and drove his vehicle into the Sunset Mini Mart, several blocks away.
St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says the suspect has barricaded himself inside the store.
KLFY has learned that a man has barricaded himself inside the Sunset Mini Mart. Police are trying to talk to the suspect into surrendering.
The man stabbed two people on Anna Street and then drove his vehicle into the JR Food Mart. He then barricaded himself inside of the convenience store
We have a crew live at the scene. Acadian Ambulance has sent eight ground units and three ground units to the scene.
One patient is currently en route via Air Med to a hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound. Another patient is also being reportedly transported to a hospital via St. Landry EMS.

SUNSET, La. (AP) – Louisiana State Police say a police officer and two other people have been shot in the southwestern Louisiana.
State police Superintendent Mike Edmonson says troopers are on the way to the scene in Sunset, about 70 miles west of Baton Rouge, after getting a call around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Edmonson says the shooting reportedly took place near a convenience store. He says the officer was “responsive” but he has no details on the extent of the officer’s injuries – or those of the other two people who were shot.
Tonette Thibodeaux of the Sunset police department confirms that an officer was shot but says she does not have any details.
