Victim identified in Sunday morning fatal crash on Johnston Street

UPDATE:  Lafayette Police have identified the person killed in the Sunday morning crash at the intersection of Johnston Street and Brentwood Boulevard.  Police say 71 year old Jerry McFarlin of Lafayette was driving an SUV on Brentwood Boulevard @ Johnston Street when he ran the red light and collided with two other vehicles.  The drivers and passengers in the other vehicles were treated at area hospitals.  No citations were issued.

EARLIER: On Sunday, August 30, 2015 at approximately 11:10 am, Lafayette Police responded to an incident involving three vehicles in the 4200 block of Johnston Street at Brentwood Boulevard.  Witnesses indicated that a red Mitsubishi Montero disregarded the red traffic signal and entered the intersection of Johnston Street and Brentwood Boulevard.

The Mitsubishi Montero struck a Toyota Tundra and then Nissan Armada causing the Montero to flip.  Traffic Investigators indicate the driver of the Mitsubishi Montero was pronounced deceased on scene.  Three occupants of the other vehicles were transported to area hospitals for treatment.  There were no citations issued.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lafayette Police Department Traffic Unit. Traffic is being re-routed.
