The Lafayette Parish School System has made some tweaks to the 2015-16 district calendar.
The Explore/PLAN test will be given to high school freshmen and sophomores on March 3, 2016. Those students will be dismissed after testing is completed. The remainder of that day will be used as professional development time for high school teachers. Juniors and seniors will not attend school in March 3, 2016. That day will be a regular day for all elementary and middle school students.
The ACT test will be administered on March 1, 2016, as previously announced. This will be a partial day of class for juniors and seniors. Professional development will take place the rest of the day. Freshmen and sophomores will not attend class on March 1, 2016. This will be a regular day of class for all elementary and middle school students.
The new version of the calendar also includes more information on dates for progress reports, report cards, and half-day dismissals for high school exams.
Other highlights from the calendar are as follows:
An elementary and middle school teacher in-service will take place Sept. 21, 2015. Students do not report to class. High school students will have a regular class day, however.
Teachers will attend in-services on Oct. 26, 2015, Oct. 27, 2015, Feb. 11, 2016 and Feb. 12, 2016. Students do not report these days. Students’ last day will be May 24, 2016.
The PARCC Phase I English and math tests will be administered March 14 to March 18, 2016.
The LEAP and ILEAP social studies and science tests will be April 5 and April 6, 2016.
The PARCC Phase II English and math tests will be April 25 to April 29, 2016.
The ACT test will be administered on March 1, 2016. The Explore/PLAN test will be March 3, 2016.
High school students will have a half-day on Dec. 18, 2015, May 23, 2016 and May 24, 2016, following the completion of exams.
Progress reports will be sent home for all students Sept. 14, 2015; Nov. 18, 2015; Feb. 17, 2016 and April 26, 2016.
Report cards will be sent home for all students on Oct. 22-23, 2015; Jan. 15, 2016; March 24, 2016 and May 25, 2016.
Parent-teacher conferences will take place after school on Oct. 22, 2015 and Feb. 4, 2016.
Parent-teacher conferences will take place in the mornings on Oct. 23, 2015 and Feb. 5, 2016. These will be half-days for teachers.
