The annual Labor Day Wiener Dog races at Louisiana Downs kicked off Monday.
The dog races started at noon and proceeds benefit Ninna’s Road to Rescue.
This year, Toby took home the top prize, defeating 2-time champ Ollie who came in second.
Amos Moses came in third.
All three dogs received trophies and Toby also won a year’s worth of grooming at Doggy Wood plus a jar full of treats.
The event raised more than $2,600 for Ninna’s Road to Rescue. The rescue group is a non-profit organization whose mission is to rescue and re-home small breed dogs, to include senior dogs and dogs in kill shelters. The group provides assistance to pet owners needing to re-home their pet via the adoption assistance program and to provide responsible pet ownership education.
