The two candidates running for Lafayette City-Parish President shared their ideas for Lafayette at a forum on Monday night.
Dee Stanley and Joel Robideaux answered questions from the League of Women Voters. The forum took place at Griffin Hall on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Some of the issues being addressed are state roads, traffic issues and the cultural economy.
Stanley says, “I think we have some challenges ahead as it relates to facilities and what we need to do with those. I believe Festival International should continue to be a free festival. I believe the government should continue to sponsor and play a role in that festival because of what it means to our community.”
Robideaux says, “Things like the festival, we should continue to do things like that. I’ve had meetings where the director, previous directors, talked about that exact thing. I agree with Dee, we should keep that festival free. Its what makes it so unique.”
The primary election will take place on Saturday, October 24th.
