Two Lafayette schools go on lockdown after domestic dispute

A man is now being questioned by Lafayette Police after a domestic dispute put Broadmoor Elementary on lockdown this afternoon.

Cpl. Paul Mouton says authorities responded to the school around 3:00 pm. after receiving a report that a man threatened to bring a gun to the school to shoot his ex-girlfriend.

The man’s ex-girlfriend is an employee of the school. Cpl. Mouton explains that investigators were able to detain the man at an off campus location. No one was hurt in the incident.

Broadmoor Elementary and nearby Edgar Martin Middle went on lockdown as a precaution, according to the Lafayette Parish School System. The lockdown was lifted shortly after police detained the man who allegedly made the threat.
