A man from New Mexico died on Monday morning after the motorcycle he was operating was struck head-on.
An investigation revealed that Tracey Jones (44) of Sulfur was driving north on LA 378 behind another vehicle when she crossed the center line of the highway and struck the vehicle in front of her in the left rear corner. The vehicle Jones was driving continued traveling on the wrong side of the road when she struck a motorcycle driving by Paul A. Vaughn (67) of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Vaughn flew from motorcycle and was transported to a Lake Charles hospital where he was pronounced dead. Jones and the driver of the vehicle struck from behind were wearing seat belts and not injured.
Routine toxicology samples were obtained from all drivers and will be submitted for analysis.
Jones was charged with driving left of center as well as driving with a suspended driver’s license.
The crash remains under investigation and additional charges are possible.
