Man who committed suicide at Oberlin school was parent of a student

A man who committed suicide at Oberlin High School was the parent of a student, authorities said.

Stacey Beaubouef, who was in his 40s, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Allen Parish Sheriff Doug Hebert said.

Beaubouef’s body was found under the main awning in the front of the school Tuesday morning by a maintenance worker.

All Oberlin schools were closed Tuesday.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office says all Oberlin schools are closed Tuesday. The school closures come after a body was found on school property.

Sheriff Doug Hebert says the body of an older man was found under the main awning in front of the school.  It was discovered Tuesday morning by a maintenance worker.

Sheriff Hebert says the person died as a result of suicide and it was not a student.

The investigation into this death is ongoing.
