Crowley police make arrest in deadly weekend shooting

2nd UPDATE: Crowley Police have arrested a Welsh man in connection with an early Sunday morning homicide at the intersection of North Avenue B and West 2nd Street.

Crowley Police along with the Welsh Police Department served an arrest warrant on 38 year old Dwight Lee Breaux of Welsh.

According to Crowley Police Chief K.P. Gibson, Breaux was arrested and booked into the Acadia Parish Jail on warrants for First Degree Murder (Principal) and Attempted First Degree Murder (Principal).

So far, no bond has been set and police did not give a motive for the shooting.

“Our officers have been working around the clock following up on leads. Other arrests are pending” stated Chief K.P. Gibson.

UPDATE: Crowley Police have identified the victim in Sunday’s shooting incident as 21 year old Kaleb Gibson of Crowley. Chief Gibson states that his detectives are following up on several leads and will release additional information as the investigation allows.

ORIGINAL STORY: One person is dead, and another injured after a shooting incident early Sunday morning in Crowley.  Authorities say the incident occurred shortly after 2 a.m. near the intersection of Avenue B and 2nd Street in Crowley.

The name of the deceased has not been released, and the second victim is said to be recovering at a local hospital.  Crowley Police Chief K.P. Gibson said no motive has been determined. “Reports indicate that large crowds of people were outside of locations when several shots were fired,” he said.  “There were no witnesses to this crime.” .
