Body of Lafayette man recovered from Bayou Fuselier

The body of a Lafayette man was recovered from Bayou Fuselier on Saturday, according to the Arnaudville Police Department.

Police Chief Eddy LeCompte has identified the man as Carl Wayne Gary.

Gary was a suspect wanted for cashing a bad check, according to LeCompte.

The police chief tells KLFY, Gary jumped into Bayou Teche while running from an officer on October 14, 2015.

The chief assisted the officer by capturing another suspect, Dontavius Davis.

Davis was charged with resisting an officer, flight from an officer, and monetary instrument abuse.

He was booked into the St. Landry Parish jail and has since bonded out.
