A 36 year old man died in the Eunice City jail over the weekend while serving a 15 day sentence for disturbing the peace. Authorities say Michael Edwards had complained of health issues before he began suffering seizures Friday night.
According to Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot, several jailers and police officers began administering CPR ( Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) in an attempt to revive Edwards, but were unsuccessful. Fontenot said Edwards was pronouced dead shortly after arriving at a local hospital.
An investigation is on-going. Fontenot said a medical exam autopsy is being planned.
