A Thibodaux woman is accused of briefly dragging her step-mother through a parking lot with her car.

28 year old Brittany Johnston is charged with aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon, according to Thibodaux Police Chief Bryan Zeringue. Johnston was released from the Lafourche Parish jail after posting a $500 bond but was ordered to stay away from the victim.

Zeringue said an argument began about 7:00 p.m. because the victim – whose husband had co-signed on Johnston’s car– wanted Johnston to leave the vehicle at Andolsek Park in Thibodaux. Johnston did not have proper insurance coverage or a valid driver’s license.

Johnston backed her car into the victim, who was caught on the open driver’s side door, Zeringue said. The victim was treated at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center.
