The Ragin Cajuns dropped their 1st game in 3 contests on Thursday night in Mobile, Alabama. South Alabama won 32-25, behind Xavier Johnson’s 23 carries and 118 yards and 2 touchdowns. For UL, Brooks Haack was 21-34 with 270 yards 1TD, and 1 costly interception in the 4th quarter. Cajun Wide Out Jamal Robinson was stellar in the loss, with 10 catches and 188 yards and a TD.
The Cajuns took the lead on a Savion Brown 85 yard interception return for a touchdown. Brown and the Cajuns seemed to have control until a 4th quarter turnover… E.J. May’s 4th quarter pick of Haack allowed the Jags to secure the winning score.
Thursday’s loss gives UL, a 4-and-5 record, and a 3-2 in the Sun Belt, with just three games remaining. U-L has two of those at home, but plays Sun Belt top contender Appalachian State on the road in Boone, NC. Next up for the Cajuns, a 4pm contest with New Mexico State on Saturday, November, 21st.
