An employee of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office is now on administrative leave without pay after being arrested for home invasion, according to Captain John Babin.

In a news release, Babin said Deputy Johnathan Lavoi, 28, allegedly entered a home in the 1200 block of Marteau Road without permission and hit the victim in the face.

Lavoi was arrested at his home on December 5, 2015, and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on the charge of home invasion.

He has been released from jail on a $5,000. Babin said Lavoi will remain on administrative leave without pay pending the completion of the investigation.
