Louisiana teacher named a 2016 Grammy Music Educator Award finalist

“CBS This Morning” revealed the finalists for the third annual Grammy Music Educator Award presented by The Recording Academy and the Grammy Foundation, honoring “current educators who have made a significant and lasting contribution to the field of music education.”

Krista Fanning, a music teacher at Caddo Middle Magnet in Shreveport, was named one of the 10 finalists from the more than 4,500 nominations nationwide that have been whittled down to 10 finalists, each of whom will receive a $1,000 honorarium and matching grants for their schools.

One winner will be selected from the ten finalists and flown to the Los Angeles for the Grammy Awards to attend Grammy Week festivities in February and the awards ceremony. The winner will also receive a $10,000 honorarium.

The other nominees come from 9 other cities across eight states.
