Lafayette Parish Sheriff-elect Mark Garber has selected current Carencro Police Chief Carlos Stout as his Chief Deputy.
Stout will serve in the position when Garber takes office on July 1, 2016.
In a statement Garber said, “Carlos brings a combination of law enforcement experience and department management experience with him and I think both qualifications are necessary to help run one of the largest sheriff’s departments in the State of Louisiana. He is respected, smart and will be an asset to my leadership team.”
Stout began his 25-year law enforcement career at the age of 19 with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, where he served for 11 years.
He was elected as the Carencro Police Chief in 2002. Stout is currently serving his fourth term in office.
