A Lafayette attorney has been honored for his role in the investigation of a Black Hawk helicopter crash in Florida earlier this year.

Attorney and Louisiana National Guard Captain Roan Evans was awarded the Louisiana National Guard Cross of Merit in a ceremony on December 3, 2015.

State Judge Advocate Colonel John Dunlap presented the award to Evans for his “tireless assistance as legal counsel, exceptional legal advice, outstanding dedication and selfless service during the investigation.”

On March 10, 2015 a UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter was performing a routine training exercise when it crashed along the Florida coast, killing all eleven members of the flight crew – four of whom were Louisiana natives.

Evans assisted the Louisiana National Guard and U.S. Special Operations Command in handling the investigation into what went wrong.

He currently serves as a Personal Injury Attorney at the Glenn Armentor Law Corporation here in Lafayette.

News 10’s Renee Allen will have more on this story tonight at 6pm.
