Eunice police officer suspended for violating code of conduct

EUNICE, La. (KLFY) – A police officer was suspended after the Eunice City Council meet for an executive session on December 9, 2015.

Police Chief Randy Fontenot said Sgt. Richard Abadie’s suspension will last for two weeks.

Abadie violated the police department’s procedures and code of conduct, according to Fontenot.

Fontenot, who did not originally hire Abadie, told KLFY he recommended Abadie be terminated after the officer allegedly choked a citizen during a traffic stop.

The police chief also said Abadie resigned from the Breaux Bridge Police Department in 2010 after he was arrested for indecent behavior with a juvenile.
